FFC #105 "It's Sketch Time"

Hello sweet friends!
Welcome to another Fun~day Friday Challenge!!
Before we get to this week's challenge, let's take a minute to remember all those who died a horrific and tragic death, 14 years ago today. Let's say a prayer for the lives lost and the surviving families who have had to pick up and carry on in life without their loved ones.

 This week's Challenge:
"Its Sketch Time"
Create a card, layout or project with
this week's sketch!

Our Sponsors this week are:
A Day for Daisies
The winner will win a $12 gift certificate to the ADFD Store!
and
Bugaboo Stamps
  The winner will win 7

So make sure to play along this week~

    Starts: Friday, Sept. 11th 12:00AM

Ends:  Friday, Sept. 18th  6:00PM
(Eastern time)

Thanks to everyone for the help with blogger. It seems that me launching another web browser has helped with the issue. So hopefully it will continue to work for me. I also wanted to ask for prayers for two of my designers. Kellie is on a plane flying for the next day in the air back home to Australia from the U.S., so I ask for prayers for a safe flight and landing and Bridget  is grieving the loss of her fur baby Nermal (a kitty). Our fur babies are like our children so please keep her in your prayers as well. Thank you!

Grand Opening!! Sunny Studio's Blop Hop & Giveaway!!

Hello my friends and thanks so much for stopping by today! You are in for a huge treat! If you follow my blog, you will remember me posting a couple weeks ago, about some exciting news of a new stamp company opening up that my friend Mendi Yoshikawa has worked so hard on in the past few months. Well friends the excitement is just beginning as today marks the opening day for Sunny Studio Stamps and we have an awesome blog hop for you!! So let's get started!!

You should have arrived from Marion Vagg's blog but if you just happened to visit my page and are just hearing about this blog hop, you can always go back to Sunny Studio Stamp's blog and start at the beginning. I will also have a list at the bottom of this post of all the participants joining in this hop today, as well as a chance for you to win some Sunny Studio stamps!!

Okay so when my friend Mendi asked me to be apart of her awesome grand opening and blog hop, I won't lie, I was on top of the moon excited! When I received her School Time Stamps to work with, I was already planning what I wanted to make with this awesome set! What a great time to use this set too, as school is just starting back up! So here is what I came up with and mind you, I didn't just stop at one project, I made 3!!!

But just a note** I have been having issues with Blogger when uploading photos. It will not upload the photos anymore and I have to copy/paste photos and resize them. Therefore, they have not been the correct size and have been poor quality so I apologize. Any help with this would be great if you have had this problem. Thanks!**

So my first project today is a sweet bookmark. Kids are taught in school to do the reader's book challenge and I don't know about your children, but my daughter loves to read! I thought this would make a cute addition to one of my daughter's chapter books!

I used the cute crayon from this stamp set as my focal image. I just loved coloring as a child and colors in general are beautiful and happy! I stamped the crayon in black momento tuxedo ink onto some white heavy weight cardstock and then colored them in with my Kuretake real clean brush markers, in rainbow order of color. I used the sentiments "your a good apple" and "star student" to create my bookmark. I cut apart my sentiments very CAREFULLY so that I could create my own sentiment, "your a good student". I repeated the sentiment down the bookmark in between the crayons. I then took some cute butterfly embellies that I had in my stash of each color of the rainbow and adhered it atop of the same color crayon for a little something extra and to hide a mistake! The mistake was that I had the word Crayola upside down lol. No problem, I slapped on a cute butterfly and called it a day! Love that we can fix our mistakes in this craft! To the butterfly, I added some viva pearl pen to create the body.  I then finished it off with some cute ribbon from my stash. Here is how it looks in my daughter's art journal book.

Next up I made a cute "thank you" card for that favorite teacher.

For this card, I decided to use the apple as my main focal image. I just LOVE this apple image and it is just the right size! I stamped the apple in versamark ink randomly on my card front to create the look of patterned paper. I then heat embossed in white and watercolored them in using my watercolors palette. It was so relaxing to sit there and do this! I really love the soft look of the watercolored apples. Next I created a banner and set that aside while I worked on watercoloring another apple. I used the sentiments, "you rule" and stamped that directly over the apple which I then used some foam adhesive to pop up onto the banner. Then I used the sentiment, "Teacher" and stamped that directly onto the banner! Now I have a cute title banner for my card! To finish it off, I created the look of faux stitching around the apples and banner and used some viva d├ęcor pearl pen in black to create some pearl beads to resemble "seeds".  Here is a look at the inside of the card.

I used the cute little stars from this stamp set to surround the message of this card. "Thank you"! Simple and to the point! I stamped the "thank you" in momento tuxuedo black ink. What a great card to show teacher appreciation! To compliment this cute apple card, I created my third and last project.

I created this cute gift bag to have something cute and personalized to give a gift of appreciation to that favorite teacher! This gift bag was created using the gift bag punch board by Stampin Up.

I apologize for the lighting in these photos. For some reason I just could not get the glare out. But you still get to see the gift bag clearly enough and here is my beautiful daughter holding it up, as she really got excited about this bag! LOL.  Ok so I used gorgeous number cardstock from DCWV's School Stack to create this gift bag. I figured school, numbers, and thought of math!! I used a 10" by 12" piece of cardstock to create this gift bag. Once assembled, I decided to work on embellishing the front of the bag. I used the rulers stamp as my focal point this time around, along with the notebook paper and pencil. I stamped the rulers stamp in an apricot color ink from Hero Arts as it matched the orange color in the patterned paper. I created a ruler background on a piece of white cardstock to start off with. I then stamped the notebook paper on another piece of white cardstock and cut it out. To that, I stamped the sentiment, "Thank you teacher" using the sentiments in this School time stamp set. This was stamped in green ink to bring out the green of the bag. I then stamped out the pencil and another apple. I colored them in using the same real brush markers and cut them out. After rearranging them onto the rulers background piece and finding the look I liked most, I then adhered everything down. To finish this off, I used a corner punch to create the cute little shape on the rulers background corners and then added some pretty happy yellow ribbon to create my handles. I really LOVE how this bag turned out!! The pictures do not do it justice. It's adorable in person!  And here is a close up of the bag and another photo of the gift going inside the bag.

I hope you have enjoyed the projects that I made using this gorgeous School Time stamp set. I had so much fun with this set and I did my best to utilize all the stamps and sentiments, to show you the many ways this set can be so versatile.  So are you ready to see what everyone else has come up with using the new stamp sets that Mendi created??? Let's get you hopping and make sure to enter the rafflecopter below for your chance to win some of these new stamps! Your next stop on the hop to sunshine is Kathy Skou!
